The Marine Resources is Also for Generations to Come

"When I did not have the knowledge from LEAD training, I did not care wether the fishing practices will destroy the marine habitat or not. What I have in mind was that I need to catch ornamental fish as many as possible and sell them. Now I understand that using cyanide will destroy the reefs and kills the baby fish. If the fish is gone by now for our existing needs, what is the future my children and my grand grand children? They may not know the fish that I can have it easily by now." Bali Project Workshop
"Eco Friendly Ornamental Fish Trade: Findings & Future Opportunities"

Marked the end of Eco Fish project in Buleleng district, Bali, LEAD Indonesia, collaborated with Department of Marine Affairs and Fisheries (DMAF), conducted a half day workshop entitled "Eco Friendly Ornamental Fish Trade: Findings and Future Opportunities" on Tuesday, March 11 2008 in Mina Bahari Building, DMAF. The workshop was aimed to share research findings by Marine Aquarium Council (MAC) and to listen to fisherman and community organizer experience (LEAD partners in the field), regarding eco friendly ornamental fish or "Eco Fish" trade.

Embracing the Future

Since 2004 YPB has been building its new core competencies in promoting sustainable development to reach out more audience. As addition to its tradition in conducting LEAD Associate Training that embraces all sectors, in 2007 YPB has new program that focus more on specific target group: Promoting Leadership for Integrated Development for public decision makers, Developing Sustainable Business for corporate community, and Bridging Leadership for young community leaders at rural areas and Young in Action for young community leaders at urban areas. The new program designed with specific attention to the need and character of each target group, but all program underlying the importance of sustainable development.
